The app does not collect, transmit, or store any of your information. There is no account, no server, and no analytics. Everything the app makes stays on your phone.

Recordings and notes

Voice recordings and typed notes you create are saved in the app's private storage on your device. They are never uploaded. Nobody, including the developer, can access them. Deleting a message deletes its audio file; uninstalling the app deletes all of them.

Microphone

The microphone is used only while you are actively recording a message, and only after you grant permission. The app does not listen in the background and has no capability to do so.

Calendar

If you choose to attach a voice note to a calendar event, the app reads your device's calendar to show you a list of upcoming events. This is optional — the app works fully without it. Calendar information is read on your device, is not copied anywhere, and is not transmitted.

Speech recognition

Recordings may be transcribed so you can read what you said. This uses Android's on-device speech recognition on phones that support it. No audio leaves your device for transcription. If your phone cannot do it, messages simply stay audio-only.

Notifications and alarms

The app schedules alarms and notifications through Android. This happens entirely on your device.

What the app does not collect

• No personal information, name, email address, or phone number
• No location data
• No contacts
• No advertising or tracking identifiers
• No usage analytics or crash reporting
• No account of any kind

Sharing

Nothing is shared with anyone, because nothing is collected. The app contains no advertising, no third-party SDKs, and no network requests of its own.

If you choose to export a pack of recordings as a file, that file goes wherever you send it. That is an action you take deliberately; the app never sends anything on its own.

This website

notetoselves.com is separate from the app, and one page of it does collect something. If you fill in the tester signup form, the name, email address and phone model you type are sent to Netlify, which hosts this site, and are visible only to the developer. They are used to add you to the Play Store test list and to email you about it — nothing else. Ask at any time and the entry is deleted. The site sets no cookies and runs no analytics or tracking scripts. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which sees your IP address as part of serving them.

Children

The app is not directed at children and collects no information from anyone.

Changes

If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be posted here with a new date. Since the app collects nothing, any change would be to add a feature that does — and that would be announced clearly in the app before it happened.
